A Royal Hoopla
Charlie was invited by The National Portrait Gallery in Canberra in 2022, to curate the performers and help shape an after-party event coinciding with their Shakespeare to Winehouse exhibition, icons from the National Portrait Gallery, London. ‘A Royal Hoopla’ featured a cross-interstate pollination of Canberra, Sydney and Melbourne’s best performers including Tanzer, Glittoris, Jazida, Rosie Rivette, Sharon Manhattan and of course, Charlie on the decks. Inspired by the icons from the exhibition (ranging from Queen Elizabeth, Anna Wintour, Kate Moss through to David Bowie) and held on the Queen’s Birthday long weekend, it was a dazzling night of burlesque, performance, music and dancing delivered with the energy of royalty meets punk glam.

Gary Bigeni / AAFW 2022
Charlie was invited by fashion designer and Sydney’s favourite colourful personality Gary Bigeni and long-time AAFW music director/collaborator, Stereogamous to collaborate on the music for Gary’s return (after a six year hiatus) to Australian Fashion Week. Featuring a new collection of hand painted and tie dyed clothing, the show featured Gary’s signature colourful patterns and glittery fabrics with a gorgeous, diverse cast of models. Jonny of Stereogamous and Charlie curated a soundtrack with a few of Stereogamous’ own sublime retouches of classic queer bangers and disco chanteuses for the show.
Coogee Sparkles NYE 2022
Randwick City Council hosted the annual Coogee Sparkles NYE fireworks which is a 20-minute fireworks display around spectacular Coogee beach. Charlie was asked to produce an accompanying 20 minute DJ mix that was played with the fireworks display. Given a family-friendly brief, Charlie put together a cracking (pun intended) mix of pop, dance and disco bangers (with drops and builds to accompany the fireworks) for the whole family to enjoy.
